The Challenge

Diego Paez was hired at Parterre in 2024 as field director for irrigation and lighting. First off, he needed a reliable connectivity solution for a client’s Hunter Hydrawise smart irrigation controllers. These controllers are often placed far from existing Wi-Fi signals. Additionally, some Parterre customers are hesitant to integrate these devices into their personal networks.

A Need for Reliable Wi-Fi

Initially, Parterre did not have a reliable connectivity solution for its Hydrawise controllers. The challenge was maintaining reliable communication with irrigation systems, especially when controllers were situated too far from Wi-Fi sources or when customers preferred that Parterre not use their networks.

The OptConnect Solution

Since Diego had previous experience using the OptConnect mylo dura router with Rain Bird and Baseline controllers, he contacted OptConnect about a solution for the Hydrawise controllers. He then introduced the OptConnect ascend dura Wi-Fi hotspots to Parterre. These units provide essential cellular connectivity, ensuring Hydrawise controllers remain reliably connected – regardless of their distance from Wi-Fi signals.

Implementation and Results in Southboro

The OptConnect ascend dura Wi-Fi hotspot was deployed to connect two Hydrawise controllers on a large residential property in Southboro, MA. In this location, the controllers were too far from the house Wi-Fi signal. Thanks to a seamless implementation of the ascend dura, Diego was able to provide consistent, reliable management of the irrigation system everywhere on the property.

The OptConnect ascend dura units also significantly improved the reliability and stability of the smart irrigation system’s connectivity. Parterre can now manage and monitor irrigation systems remotely without interruptions, for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.

Future Prospects

Parterre plans to continue using OptConnect solutions to support its smart irrigation systems.
